If this site is viewed with a modern browser, you may notice a couple of nice features; javascript must be enabled to view the photo gallery, as well as, some pop-up tool tips. Sadly, the term modern browser can not be applied to Internet Explorer--not even the "new" one, IE7--but does include the following: Firefox, Opera, Konqueror and Safari.
frequently asked questions
how is this site best viewed?
what camera do you use?
A Canon Powershot S1. Its best feature: it uses 4 AA batteries. Because we can recharge camera batteries with the same portable charger that we can use for the batteries of the GPS, two headlamps, and an MP3 player, it is perfect for far flung travellers. Also, the batteries are available, and I say this with some experience, everywhere.
how do you compose posts?
Usually we see something or experience something that we want to write about and, situation permitting, take notes. Since we don't have consistent internet connections when we travel, most of our posts are written out by hand in our notebooks, critiqued by each other and then typed in and posted. Although only after a ruthless spell-check session, since we're both terrible spellers.
how often do you post?
Traveling provides the great conundrum: we get to have really neat experiences, and are always far away from an internet connection so can't share said experiences. Which basically means we post as often as we can. We try to get to an internet cafe once a week, but sometimes that just doesn't work, so it can be as long as two weeks between posting sessions. We're trying something new, at the moment, though (shhh, it's a secret), so we'll see how that goes and let you know.
