Stephen Colbert doesn't need to worry about our having been eaten by bears (if you just want to see the bear section, it starts at the 5:39 mark, although threat number four is hilarious, and the rest are pretty funny, too). And no, despite having posted from Las Vegas weeks ago, and then disappearing, we didn't lose what money we had, so we haven't been hiding in shame. Though possibly that would be better, since at the moment we're both exhausted.
After the week in Sin City, David and I parted (the horror!) for two weeks while I came up to Boise to be Papa's knees. He is missing one, at the moment, from that nasty staph infection that popped up in Scotland, and while Mama jetted off to Wales with her mother (and sister and cousin), Papa was in need of someone to do all the things that require standing for more than 30 seconds. And really, what else are unemployed daughters for?
And then, all seven of us, met up in Portland. It was just like the Scotland trip: cloudy, rainy and lots of bookstore visits were undertaken. Except that Megan was (and still is) pregnant, and Papa was recovering from the staph infection, instead of just about to be felled by it. Then, just as the weather was due to perk up, after a decadent stop at Saint Cupcake for Taylor's birthday, the five of us who don't live in Portland drove back to Boise. This was on June 12. June 13, Mama and Papa closed on their new home.
Yup, their new home! So instead of our original plan of spending the summer with them "prepping" to move them, we're spending the summer actually moving them. Hence the exhuastion. And the extreme lack of non-posting, non-phoning, and non-emailing. Sorry about that! We'll try to be better, from now on.
